As a registered Specialist Periodontist, Dr Stern provides exceptional personalised care for all treatments related to the gums and dental implants. This includes treatment for gum disease, bone grafting, recession treatment and both implant placement and repair.

His extensive Specialist training at King’s College London, ranked as one of the world’s best institutions for Periodontology, includes the latest techniques for diagnosing, preventing and treating periodontal disease, as well as cosmetic periodontal procedures.

Dr Stern has worked in multiple hospitals providing outstanding surgery for patients over a large number of years, as well as teaching and mentoring many dentists from around the country.

He continues to lecture at both national and international conferences and has published papers in several well-respected journals. He has also been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards in his field.

Sam is an Advanced Hygienist who has been working with Dr Stern for over 6 years. Sam has a wealth of experience looking after patients with complex Periodontal and implant needs. The outstanding care and excellent results the Perio Centre team provide mean that Sam builds up long-lasting relationships with many of her patients!

Seeing Sam is a unique hygiene visit – patients regularly report they have never had an experience like it before.

Sam first started in Dentistry at the age of just 16 in her home county of Somerset; within a few days, she knew it was a love affair that would last forever.

Sam relishes a challenge, so she moved to working in the Community Dental Service and got to treat a variety of patients. This ranged from prisoners to end of life care patients, nursery children to domiciliary care, general anaesthesia to extremely vulnerable and nervous patients (even those who needed her to see them in the car park)! It provided her with broad experience treating a variety of complex cases and made her fall in love with dentistry even more.

Sam qualified with Distinction from the University of Essex and soon discovered her passion of treating more severe cases of periodontal disease alongside Simon. Furthering her education is of utmost importance to Sam – she has since completed many post-graduation courses in the Hygiene field and is GBT qualified which makes her skills and experience a rarity.

In her personal time, Sam and her partner Philip have a beautiful cocker spaniel called Rudi. He is their pet child and they enjoy taking him on muddy weekend walks – he even climbed Scafell Pike with them!

Lucy qualified as a Dental Hygienist & Therapist at the Eastman Dental Hospital and the Faculty of Royal College of Surgeons in 2005. She gained invaluable experience working at the head and neck cancer unit at Luton Hospital. She also obtained a Certificate in Oral Health Promotion with Distinction from the University of Nottingham and is a member of the British Association of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BADHT).

Lucy is thorough, precise and passionate about her work and has a special interest in advanced non-surgical periodontal therapy. She works alongside Dr Stern to implement tailored treatment plans for a variety of patients – ranging from simple to complex cases.

Lucy strongly believes in a holistic approach and patients often note her kind and reassuring manner – a particular benefit for nervous patients!

She has also received advanced training in the use of Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) using the EMS Airflow device – one of the most effective forms of dental hygiene treatment available.

Lucy takes pride in educating and supporting her patients, improving their oral and general health and helping stabilise their periodontal disease. She is also very knowledgeable in providing smoking cessation support.

Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, going for long walks, and spending quality time with her daughter Holly. Don’t delay and book in today!

Fran is Dr Stern’s right hand (and left hand) woman. Her outstanding care and professionalism is key to the smooth running of the practice.

Additionally, as all of our patients will attest, Fran is a great communicator and a pleasure to deal with. If there is anything you need from Dr Stern or the practice – Fran is the go-to!

When Fran is not at The Perio Centre she is often found working just as hard in the gym, at an art exhibition or travelling somewhere exotic.
